Tanya Wiser

Tanya Wiser, LCSW, SEP is a queer-identified mother, therapist, and meditation teacher who is a devoted practitioner of mindfulness and somatic wisdom, and a lifelong student of psychology. She teaches at the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City and offers retreats for both Buddhist and secular communities. Tanya earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work and is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Her approach arises from her lived experience of the Dharma and draws on training in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing. At the center of her teaching is a guiding question she asks herself and others: “Is the heart open or closed?” She believes this question lies at the core of our practice and our capacity to meet life with a wise and compassionate presence.
